Employer and Participant Features

Part of our administration services is providing certain features to our employers and benefit participants. These features are at no additional charge and provide our valued clients and their employees some great tools. Click on each feature to learn more about what value it can provide.

ASi Visa® Card

The ASi Visa® Card is a debit Visa® card that allows participants to use their benefit funds directly.  Instead of participants using their personal bank account for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and waiting for a reimbursement, they can use this benefits card instead.  Whenever they use this card to pay for healthcare expenses, their purchase comes directly out of the funds from their benefit account.

The ASi Visa® Card works with the following benefits:

  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) & Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP)
  • Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA)
  • Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
  • Commuter Benefit Accounts

Your client has the option of providing an ASi Visa® Card for the above benefit plans. The above plans do not automatically offer an ASi Visa® Card.

Where can participants use their ASi Visa® Card?

For participants enrolled in an FSA, DCAP, HSA, or HRA, they can use this debit card at any merchant using the Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS) and at any medical or childcare provider whose Point of Sale (POS) system are coded with the appropriate Merchant Category Code (MCC). They can also use this debit card at any 90% rule merchants. The list of possible merchants to use includes:

  • Healthcare Provider Offices
  • Dental/Vision Offices
  • Hospitals/Urgent Care Clinics
  • Mail Order Rx Programs
  • Pharmacies
  • Grocery Stores
  • Childcare Providers

For participants enrolled in a Commuter Benefit Account, they can use this debit card at any transit or parking authority whose Point of Sale (POS) system are coded with the appropriate Merchant Category Code (MCC). This includes:

  • Transit Office Kiosks
  • Transit Authority Websites
  • Parking Lots/Garages
  • Uber and Lyft (carpool services only)

IIAS merchants can determine when a participant purchases eligible expenses. When they use their ASi Visa® Card for transactions at these merchants, they will not be required to submit documentation to verify/substantiate your expense.

90% Rule merchants are some pharmacies, grocery stores, and other merchants that can accept debit Visa® cards but cannot determine that the expenses are eligible. Transactions made at these types of merchants require verification/substantiation documentation.

Submitting Substantiation Documentation

If certain expenses need to be substantiated, participants can submit their required documentation through the following ways:

  1. The ASi Employee Portal – a desktop portal where participants can file a healthcare claim, upload receipts/documentation, and view claims history.
  2. The ASi Flex HRA App – A mobile application that allows participants to submit a healthcare claim, capture and upload pictures of their receipts and documentation anytime, anywhere on any iPhone, Android or tablet device.
  3. Email, Fax, or Mail

Replacement or Additional Cards

Each enrollee automatically receives two cards both in the participant’s name. Cards cannot be ordered in dependents’ names.

There is a $5.00 fee anytime a new set of cards is ordered/requested.  This fee will be reduced from the participants available balance.  The $5.00 fee can only be waived if it was an error on our end (I.E. – ASi misspelled the name or entered the wrong address).

The participants can request a card through several options:

  1. The ASi Employee Portal
  2. The ASi Flex HRA App

EOB Retrieve

EOB Retrieve (Explanation of Benefits Retrieve) is a voluntary program that allows employee’s primary insurance carrier’s EOBs to be sent directly to ASi. In order for EOB Retrieve to work, the participants must provide ASi their login credentials for their primary insurance carrier’s online member portal. We then are able to view their primary insurance carrier’s EOBs and can begin processing their claims. If they wish to use this service, they must choose to register. By registering for this service, most of their claims will automatically be sent to ASi for processing. However, some carriers do not offer this benefit and/or some claims may not be accessible to ASi due to carrier restrictions.  It will be their responsibility to monitor their claims and contact ASi if they suspect a claim as not been paid.

If they do not elect to register for the EOB Retrieve service, they will be responsible for ensuring ASi receives their primary carrier’s EOBs for claim processing.

How Does EOB Retrieve Work?

Once participants register for this service and setup their EOB Retrieve account, ASi will begin pulling their EOBs from their primary carrier’s member portal from the date they sign up. ASi will not be able to retrieve any claims incurred prior to registration for this service. Any prior claims can be submitted to ASi via mail, email, or fax. We will then process their carrier EOBs. They will receive an ASi EOB once their claim has been processed.

How Do They Register?

Registering for EOB Retrieve is a simple process, but personalized due to the participants specific primary carrier. Participants must speak with their Human Resources department about EOB Retrieve registration or contact us directly. Their HR department or ASi will provide them the steps to register for EOB Retrieve.
